The Green and Blue island of Corfu with it's marvellous natural beauty, the reach culture and legacy and the up to date tourist infrastructure combines relaxing features as well as entertainment and a rich and vivid night life.
Capital of the island is Corfu town, one of the most beautiful cities in Greece owes its beauty to the rich mixture of different civilizations that passed by and left their mark over the centuries.
According to the mythology Corfu (Kerkyra) was named after the Nymph Kerkyra that Zeus fell in love with and brought to this island. The first written report of Corfu (Kerkyra) begins from Homers Oddysey. Here at the Phaiakes island Oddyses meets Nafsika. It is certain though that Corfu is being inhabited since the Palaeolithic ages. The major strategic importance made the island most popular amongst conquers. The Corinthian colony during the classic times was then occupied by the Romans and then was added to the Byzantine Empire. In the 14th century the island passed through its Venetian era as the Venetians occupy the island for 400 years leaving their marks on the islands culture. Shortly after that it again occupied by the French leaving their place for the Russians. It is then returned back to the French for a short while when it is finally taken by the British Empire just like the whole of the Ionian island until 1864 where it was returned and attached to Greece.
 In Corfu town with the vast squares like the famous Spianada Square the narrow stone allays the Italian influence is intense. Here is where English royal buildings, Venetian Fortresses, monuments and churches are blended together in total harmony. The church of Snt Spiridonas protector of the island and the ever so glamorous philharmonic orchestras create a city of unique beauty and feeling.
West of the city is Palaiokastritsa, a small heaven on earth and the Aggelocastro Byzantine Castle. South you can find Kanoni with the Vlacherenas monastery from where you can take a boat trip to Pontikonisi (Mousaisland). Right across the hill of Gastouri you can find the unique Achileion the summer palace of Queen Elisabeth of Austria also known as Queen Sissy.
In Corfu except from the vast variety of sightseeing the guest can also enjoy water sports such as sailing, water ski, wind surfing, scuba diving, underwater fishing also tenis, golf and cricket. Can have a taste of the local cuisine the Mantolate (local sweet) and the tine Japanese oranges cum-cuat.
